ABOUT
The Goat Hill Collection is an assemblage of naturalistic wood sculptures and utilitarian pieces I have made over the last forty years. In high school I began to experiment with sanding and oiling slices from the fallen trees on our family farm in Hamilton County, Texas. Called Goat Hill for Angoras my father raised there in the 1960s, it is located on the northern edge of the Texas Hill Country in the Limestone Cut Plains. These 227 acres are a rich source of plateau live oak, Spanish oak, post oak, Ashe juniper, and cedar elm.
My ties to the land have always influenced my decisions. After earning a PhD in Botany, I went on to pursue a career in agriculture internationally, then with USDA and Texas A&M. Throughout my career, and now in retirement, I have continued to explore the beauty of these native woods.
