Plateau live oak sculpture, 10”L x 5.7”W x 13.5”H. No longer available.

The base of this tree, bulldozed in the 1970s, had been almost completely consumed by rot when I discovered it in 2018. After removing the soft decayed wood, only the most resistant heartwood remained. The base of the sculpture is the remains of the tap root, and the void in the center of the piece represents the base of the trunk that had been consumed by heart rot.
