Live edge Spanish oak bench on steel frame, 54”L x 14”W x 19”H. No longer available.

I worked with my sons-in-law to rip several 1.5 inch planks from a fallen Spanish oak using an Alaskan mill. After they had aged for over a year, I sanded and finished the planks with polyurethane and fit them to steel frames constructed by my son-in-law Jeff. The darker lines throughout the lighter edges of the piece are known as “spalting.” They are dark chemicals produced when different expanding areas of white rot fungi meet.
