Plateau live oak on limestone base, 20”L x 12”W x 32”H. No longer available.

This sculpture is what remains of the heartwood at the base of a tree that died of oak wilt in the 1960s and was bulldozed into a pile in the 1970s. Heart rot removed the center of the piece and created the intricate pattern of voids all throughout the piece. This is another family heirloom; I wish it were possible to find more old cores like this one. In recognition of where this old tree grew, I have mounted it on a weathered piece of Edwards limestone.
