Black walnut, 10”L x 8”W x 35”H.

This black walnut sculpture was carved from the outer part of the trunk of the tree rescued by my father from the banks of the Leon River in Central Texas in 1957. Since the outer part of the trunk could not be cut into dimensional planks, it was never used for furniture construction but was stored with other cracked or otherwise unusable pieces until I found it over 60 years later. The walnut is mounted on a polished slab of Ashe juniper.
