Plateau live oak, 14”L x 10”W x 4.5”H.
This plateau live oak bowl was carved from the base of a long-dead tree that had died of oak wilt and had been resting in a pile since the 1970s. It is unique for its lighter colored wood near the center of the trunk and distinctive cracks radiating outward from the center. This is one of my heavy, rounded pieces that recalls the shapes of Fernando Botero’s figures.
